Something is for sure wrong with that laptop. Hope it gets sorted out.

Very weird there.  I had an MSI GT70 for about 2 years with no issues with temps like that.  However my laptop wasn't a thin laptop, so can't really offer an opinion on that.  Glad to see MSI is letting you RMA the thing though.  I would honestly have asked for a replacement on the thing, perhaps if you're lucky they'll just upgrade you to the newer model one.
