so i know you can run 2 different ram types aslong the speed and timings match. but does voltage needs to match aswell?

because i'm running Corsair Vengeance 2x4 cl9 1600 (1.35V)

and i have ADATA XPG V2 Series 2x4 cl9 1600 left over (1.5V)

yes or no?

You will be running the Vengenance at 1.5V, but that is absolutely fine. It should work, if it doesnt just remove it.

Are they even the same standard? Different standards use different voltages, so it seems unlikely that they will even fit in the same motherboard.

not sure what you mean with standards, they have the same stats everything is the same just the brand is different and like i said in my original post one set runs 1.35V and the other 1.5V

i have installed both kits now and it booted fine. all 16gb are there and xmp sets all sticks on 1600.

Run MemTestX86, if it passes 8 Passes all should be good.

The voltage on the package is the highest voltage the ram kit will run at and might be the voltage needed to run the kit at full speed or higher. In the event that RAM kits don't match, the motherboard runs all modules at minimum JDEC spec which is 1333 MHz at 1.35 or 1.5 (motherboard's choice), which all DDR3 modules have to function at to be sold. As long as you keep each kit in it's corresponding channels, you should be able to get into bios. (kit A in color1 slots and kit B in color2 slots)
