Hi all,

I'm having issues with sharing files between computers. When I find the file that I want on the other PC, I transfer the file to my PC and it takes for EVER to transfer. It things, then things. Then once it has made its mind up it transfer in now time. The picture below shows what happens when it things/calculating. Is there a way that you can make it take less time or make it transferred in a instant. Is there something that I have to do in the firewall or network settings etc.

Please Help. Please!

What is your up and down speeds. Also how many PC's are connected. Are they all connected to a NAS or a switch. Need some info to go off of.

Mate my internet speed has nothing to do with the LAN speed because we are talk in a Local Area Network. We are not talking to a server that is somewhere else. Computer to computer in the same house and network. And we do not own a NAS. There is sometimes 8 devices connected the max and that is not every time. There normally 3-4 windows computer connected at once.

Alright, thank you for describing "LAN" for me. I greatly appreciate it. I miss read your top post and didn't realize for some reason you were talking about PC directly to PC connection (in other words LAN, since you know, I have no idea what that means). Now I am going to go Google what PC means too, and you know what... While I am at it I will find out what GPU and CPU mean too, because I have been seeing those abbreviations for years now and could just never figure out what the mean. You know what, how about you explain them to me since I obviously have no clue. Remind me again I was trying to help you? Obviously you are more certified then I am.

Also, this article might help your problem: http://www.howtosolutions.net/2013/06/fixing-slow-sending-or-receiving-of-files-through-lan-network-using-windows/

So that is what RAM and PSU stands for!

Awesome to find another user with an actual sense of humor and sarcasm. (most would just get offended/rant/report me)

Also, did that article I linked you help any?

A little? Like has your transfer speeds increased?

Just so you know, I would highly recommend getting a NAS if you have 8 PC's connected through LAN.
