I want to build a computer that will play current and future games smoothly at 1080p.

I was wondering if this is good.

Thanks for replying!

Good parts choice. The only thing I would change is to get at least a 120GB Samsung SSD. 64GB would fill out way to fast.

I will only be using it for an OS.

Yeah, over time Windows writes files all the time and it will take up room. It's only $20 more. It's worth it. I have a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB and over 2 years of owning it, I only have 30GB left. (I keep all my games, videos, pictures, etc all on my HDD) Just a suggestion. Good luck with your build!

If you are trying to sell me on AMD go for it. What would be a reasonable alternative?

390, and I´m not trying to sell you one. These are actual factors one should consider when buying a computer. If you live in a place where you need to save every watt you can, then go for the 970 by all means. If you need cuda,(For certain rendering applications take advantage of it.) by all means 970. If you can live without the small boost in rendering, and power isn´t a fortune, I genuinely recommend a 390, since it tends to be cheaper and on avg. performs slightly better.

Ok I will look into it. I guess I'll think back to algebra where you make those graphs like when will option a be cheaper than option b if option a cost this much to buy and this much per month and option b cost this much less but this much more per month. lol

Ha, wasn´t actually trying to make that connection but it works. Just be aware, it´s possible Nividia might (For lack of a better term) gimp Maxwell when Pascal comes out.
