I'm pretty sure that by installing Windows 7 Ultimate and then doing the free Windows 10 Upgrade is supposed to give you Windows 10 Pro is it not? My desktop had a fresh install of 7 Ultimate which I immediately did the upgrade and it has 10 Pro now. Using the exact same flash drive and method I installed 7 Ultimate on my laptop using the same key. After doing the 10 Upgrade my laptop shows Windows 10 home.

Is there a workaround for this? I'm not forking over $99 or whatever Microsoft wants. The chart says I should be getting 10 Pro and I'm not...

I've tried the install 3 or 4 times now and it's still throwing me into 10 Home. Again my desktop got 10 Pro using the exact same method so I'm a bit lost. Any ideas?

Go to a Microsoft live chat, it is actually very helpful. I had an issue in which my valid Windows 7 Ultimate key was not being recognised as activated in a Windows 10 installation. Double check with Microsoft that your key is no longer misclassified - they actually provided me on the spot with a brand new Windows 10 Pro key, maybe they'll do the same

Windows 7 keys are licensed to be used on up to 3 machines in a home setting.

well then, you should give MS a call

one other thing you could try: install W10 directly using the W7 key - yes, it works since the November build

2nd other thing you could try: go in settings, activation -> change product key, and enter the W7 key
