Changing Windows 8 Start Menu

KeLLZ

Most of us know what the Windows 8 start menu looks like...it's like a screen.  There are results online explaining that you can download some things to change it and make it a menu that pops up and looks nice rather than the original windows 8 screen.  I was wondering if there was a way to change it from a screen to a bar (like in windows 7) without having to download anything.  If not, can any of you guys recommend a downloadable add on/extension that can make it so I have a start bar rather than a start "Screen".  I don't like the windows 8 start menu :*(

Running Windows 8.1 64 bit.  I don't like the first pic. Prefer the second.

Why not upgrade to win10?

the change doesn't allow me to do what I want with Counter Strike GO in windows 10.  The 4:3 resolution in game will not stretch like it will in windows 8.1.  Apparently it has something to do with the AMD drivers for windows 10 and it hasn't been fixed even after all this time.
