If you prefer a click but one that is quieter than blues, go for Brown.

If you prefer a more linear click and feel, go for reds.

It's really just personal preference. (I personally love Browns :D )

I say jiggly-bytes when I see "GB".

It goes down better than you would expect.

In short, thanks to failure I'm in the market for a replacement K70, however it seems Corsair have abandoned the blue switch keyboard I was using, would I fare better with a brown or red switch out of the remaining options?

Thing is I chose blues because I liked the blues :P

the G710 is an interesting idea however something about the design just doesn't look as good as the k70

The angled sides and blue highlight around the macro keys doesn't help.

I though Corsair only discontinued blue switches on their RGB line? They should still have blue switches on their non-RGB red backlit K70. I wouldn't consider the G710 comparable product to a K70 RGB since the G710 is only white backlit. But it would be a decent replacement for the red backlit K70, with significant changes to aesthetics.

I just discovered http://www.corsair.com/en-us/store/certified-refurbished

I don't know if that's a new page or how long they've been direct selling refurb stuff. But based on what's on the list the K series keyboards all seem to have a bit duds which corresponds with rumors I'd heard. The Strafe is a better keyboard.

If you want something that looks similar, go for the strafe. You could also consider the Ducky DSX which is currently on Massdrop. Single color backlight is still generally preferred for keyboard enthusiasts. I personally prefer SIP socketed boards to anything else because if the LED decides to fail, it's a super easy thing to replace and I won't have to desolder.

If you want a good, understated, RGB board, I would go for the Ducky Shine 5 or the MK Disco if you want a TKL. Either of those would be great boards.

Browns don't click. They have a tactile bump and that's it. Also, reds don't click either. They are just linear switches. The whole click thing is reserved for MX Blues, Greens and Whites (not nature white, those are linear)

Cherry had problems producing the Blue RGB switch. Corsair stopped producing keyboards with MX blue RGB switches towards the end of their exclusive deal with Cherry due to lack of supply. I can't imagine the situation being any better now that Cherry are selling their RGB switches to everyone.

Wow thankyou for all the replies and input so far. I'm disappointed the browns don't click and relieved I saved myself some money by not going in blind and ordering a browns set to replace my blues.

The Strafe for me seems like a mixed bag since around here it's not that much cheaper and it's made of plastic rather than aluminium, but the leds are better.

I've not had an experience with a ducky keyboard does anyone want to tell me how it compares to a blues k70?

How many companies actually USE Cherry RGB switches? I know of Corsair and Asus.

The last time they were in stock at mechanicalkeyboards.com, they had about 50 of them, and I think they all sold out within something like two hours of them being put up on the site...
