hey guys, just wanting to see your opinions on the setup Im wanting to build any opinions are great.
bare in mind, Im in New Zealand and my budget will be about 2000 NZD or about 1600 USD.

any input is appreciated.

note: ill mainly be using it for gaming as well as a little bit of photo shop.

For the cpu i was thinking of the i5-4670k the main reason for this is i want this computer to last more then just a couple of years without needing to upgrade anything major. the i7 products were a bit out of my price range as well. @ $330

to accompany the cpu i picked the H100i cooler, thought i may as well get the best performance out of the i5 4670k and overclock it a lil (probably around 4.2-4.4ghz) @ 209

for the motherboard, Asus z87-C atx, at the time of looking it was the best one for the price. $215

ram - 4 gb of corsair 1866mhz x2 @ $160

storage - crucial m4 128gb will slowly upgrade to 2 ssds and 2 hdds but for now this is all i need. @ $140

GPU - sapphire radeon hd 7790 1gb gddr5 best for the price that i could find. better then some of the nvidia cards around this price. @ $229

case - corsair 650D this thing is massive. what else needs to be said? @ 274

psu - raidmax 850W 80+ gold. by far not the best psu i could go with but hey? its cheap? its 850W and its 80+ gold. @ 174

last but not least the windows 7 o/s 64bit. will use a usb drive to install it. comes in at  @ 174

i have a mouse and a crappy keyboard at home already, so when i get more money ill upgrade those & i have a small ass monitor (doesnt even support hdmi) that ill be using as well until i get another $200

lets hear your guys opinions and see what i could upgrade

total cost comes in about $1891.00

You should be pouring less money onto the cpu and more onto the gpu.

Stay away from raidmax psus. 850w is also very much overkill.

Where are you shopping?

Yeah, but it's still good for composing links--especially with custom parts.

No point getting 1866 ram--CL9 1600 will do.

I wouldn't go with a 650D as it's older and uses a ghetto usb 3.0 passthrough from the back of the case for the front usb 3.0.

Fyi, you need you quote a post or tag a member or else they won't get a notification you replied to them.

Crossfire ready., Replace the Evo's fan with the F12, rear case fan with the F12, and front with the 140mm.

why go all out on a beefy $500+ graphics card?

also, how good is that cpu cooler while overclocking?, it seems awfully on the cheap side of thing imho

the reason i picked the i5-4670k is that is newer then the 8320 (to my knowledge)

its only 84 watts compared to 125 watts and i dont need to overclock it to much for the overall performance to equal/smash the best of the fx chips - by the research ive semi conducted for myself, to me it seems like amd is just grabbing chips and upping there frequency just to stay in the game -

Because gaming is more reliant on the gpu than the cpu.

The Evo is a decent cooler--one of the best value coolers if not the best.

Newer does not mean better. Both are fine for gaming.

The 9590's and such are just gimmicks. Rumors are they're coming out with new chips more focused on APUs instead of going for extreme processing to compete with Intel.

other then the cable managament and the air flow of the case, the hot swap bay at the top of the case i think will help me alot in my future endeavors as im wanting to become a computer hardware engineer (diagnosing faulty hardware, building computers for all types of people, list goes on).

for the future, i think the case will be a better investment even with that ghetto usb pass through, yeah its older but if i was going to go with anything else itd probably be a full tower case which i really dont have the money for..

Stick with the Evo. Great value cooler and very quiet when the fans are spinning slowly.
