Android Root/Update problem

Go to solution Solved by itsmyjobtoknow,

I've been out of the loop when it comes to rooting phones, but this is what I remember..

Get your phone into Download Mode or the equivalent of download mode based on  the manufacturer of the phone. Get a piece of software that will help you flash the stock ROM back onto the device. For Samsung devices, it was ODIN...so find the equivalent to that. YOu also have to find a stock image...which will most likely be found on the XDA forums or other forums.

There is most likely a guide somewhere on XDA so I suggest you follow that since I just know the general procedures of root & unrooting android device, and not specific procedures for every device.

AS for recovering images, it is possible....but the software and instructions to do so are probably not available to consumers. When you first delete images, it isn't deleted, it is just allowed to be rewritten over by something else. But after resetting your phone, and probably flashing it now....a lot of those images, if not all, might have been rewritten over.

I've had a rooted android device for a long time. I found out that i can't update my android device higher than 4.3 because of the modification. I also disconnected from my snapchat account and now I can't log in either.

So I have followed some instructions and tried the unroot command in SuperSU, I have also deleted all other root softwares after unrooting the device. I used Root Checker to see if my divice was still rooted, and it wasn't.

After all this, I took a good reboot and tried to update my device/log in to snapchat. It still says that my device has been modified and I can't update it. Same with snapchat, I get the "Oh no!" error,

So I tried factory reset option, and it didn't work either.

Now I'm kinda sad because I lost almost all of my pictures and I'm working on it with recovery software.

Do you have any idea on how to make my phone "fully" unrooted so I can finally update my device and log in to different accounts?

Thank you for your attention,

derpylt

Get a custom recovery and find a stock image of the latest version of Android for your phone. Flash the stock rom and it will be unrooted, I believe. That's how I have done it at least.

DONT FORGET TO MAKE A BACK UP.

The first boot could take up to 40 mins, just be patient and don't let the battery die.

Snapchat blocks rooted phones, you'll need to revert to an older version of the APP to get it to work on rooted.

Thank you! And do you know if it's possible to restore photos after factory restore?

I was so dumb and didn't do a backup before.

As for restoring photos, I think they're gone forever dude. I suggest googling this. But I doubt there's anything you can :(
