IS WAYYYY more powerful. the 960m is around the same power as a gtx 750. While the 970m is as powerful as a gtx 960. Huge performance jump

I'm also looking for an MSI laptop for work and don't plan on considering this one, mainly because of the weight. It's like 2.6 or so kg so it isn't exactly the most portable thing for working.
