GAMING + VIDEO EDITING RIG

Go to solution Solved by brob,

I would go with the Kraken X61 cpu cooler. It can be quieter.

Overclocking a cpu can help with cpu intensive operations. Depending on your video editing software and any add-ins, this might be helpful. Most modern rendering packages use the gpu for most of the work so cpu improvements do not contribute as much. Although gpu overclocking will make a difference.

Higher clocked memory would be a good idea. At least try for DDR4-2400 CL 15 (or lower). While memory speed and timings make a difference in editing, I would not spend more than a few dollars over a DDR4-2400 kit.

guys i need your help in building a rig that will allow me to play all the major games at high settings and also a fast processing machine which will help me to edit the recorded game play videos and upload it. i will be making gameplay videos and uploading it on youtube

But will you need cuda? Because if not, 390 might be a better choice since it tends to be cheaper. Or does power cost alot where you are? Also, check the price of the 5820k where you are, if it´s around the same as the 6700, get it instead.

I can only assume the 6700 & h170 were chosen due to budget restrictions.

If you live anywhere near a microcenter you could go X99 for around the same price range, but that's a longshot.

You should pick based on the warranty really. Go with which on will be covered longer.

You could get an i5 to save money for a better GPU. You'll only notice the difference when rendering videos, which will take forever eitther way.

I also always recommend K chips, so you can OC when it becomes a bottleneck .

If yes what build would you suggest based on the list i posted above.

If you overclock the i5 you meet something around the stock speeds of the i7. an i5 quad core and i7 quad core wont be much different in render speed, as core matter the most in this respect.

If you don't wanna go DDR4, you can make a great build with a 4690k and 16gb of RAM, with a much better video card.

You can OC it to render videos, but OC'd CPUs don't make much of a difference in games, because a stock 4690k (what I use) is good enough for even the most demanding games.

100K INR is about 1.4k USD here's a build:

I happened to already have this built, it's in your budget range, with a i7, DDR3 RAM, with a 980ti.

So I took the build out of the video the other day and modified it a bit so it wasn't so ridiculously expensive... this is what i came up with...http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jp6BNG

You could obviously throw what ever CPU you wanted into it. Just remember that the cooler he used is not really designed for doing overclocking and i haven't done a enough research yet to try and find one that was more capable of overclocking while maintaining the limited space issue. Although if your looking for a not flashy kind of hide away build that is totally the build i would do.

Guys,

If i decide to go with 6700K and gtx 970.

what build would you suggest :)

So know this sounds bad, but, take a look at my PC specs on my profile. I'm running a rig with a 6700k and a R9 390 (970 equivalent), my setup was almost exactly 1500$ US for everything in the tower (minus the OS). Obviously with peripherals, the total will be more, but I don't factor those in too often since peeps are usually running their old stuff. What ever you end up building, definitely go onto kinguin.net, or any other site like it, and buy an Windows OS key. Last i checked you could get Windows 10, for 20ish dollars US, I paid almost 100$ US, which i highly regret now, because i could of taken that 80$ and put it toward an even higher end GPU.

I personally really like the case I'm running, if you want pics to get an idea of what it looks like, let me know, ill snap a few and post them. It's currently not done, but all i have left is to order and install the NZXT Hue+ lighting system. All in all though, MoBo comes with tons of features, WiFi, an awesome UEFI which makes bios a breeze. It is also makes doing a light overclock on the CPU very simple, as well as the memory. The cooler has yet to let my CPU go over 50C, the only thing i would highly recommend is to change out the stock x61 fans with fractal designs venturi HP 140mm fans. They are literally silent at idle and even at full speed, they make half the noise that the original fans did. Would also advise the same thing on the case fans too, but those to the Fractal Designs HF 140 & 120mm fans. I have the silent Corsair series fans for my case and they are quiet but if i did it again it would be the FD fans. I don't think ill ever use any other fans for future builds, that sums up how impressed i am with Fractal's product.

Sorry this is wicked long... but there is a lot of shit to consider/learn about... plus there are alot of things im trying to relay. Learned alot of shit since i got into this game..
