I got the following parts for free. What I want to know is will it even be worth using these parts to build a HTPC or even a gaming PC? If it does end up being worth it, can you tell me what would be the best ram and gpu to add to it at a price to performance ratio. I have a couple hard drives lying around I can throw into it. I am wanting to keep the total price as low as possible just because I want to see how good of a HTPC I can get for as cheap as possible. Scrapyard wars gave me this idea and turns out my dads work has like three giant card board boxes of old computers that get recycled once they fill up. So my dad got permission to let me scrummage though it and this is what I got. Thank you for the help!

Parts I Got:

Cooler Master 700W PSU

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0 Ghz

Intel DP45SG LGA775 MOBO

I also got a Cooler Master N300 ATX case that all these parts came in. (Missing a side panel)

Old parts modern case?

Just grab as much RAM as it can fit and you could turn it into a media NAS, throw all movies and what not on it.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

You could, possibly, the CPU isn't too bad, but that probably isn't worth it.
