Windows 10/Windows 7 install

So, this has probably been answered but I couldn't find it on the forum. My hard drive fried in my personal rig. So I got a new hard drive and i am want to reinstall windows. The problem that i am having if I don't know if I can use the window 7 COA to reinstall windows 7, because i upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7. My question is the COA still good to use to reinstall windows 7 to re-upgrade to windows 10.

You can reuse Windows 7 and Windows 10 keys as long as they remain on one system at a time. So yes you could reinstall Windows 7 and reapply the update.

Just install windows 10 from a USB and it will automatically activate itself

like enderman asked, clean install winX, activate winX (activation will use your win7/X key), if you need to know your key you can use a key cipher to recover the original 7 key.
