UPGRADE YOUR MEMORY!!!

goon

8 GB of ram is the best bang for buck currently, you pay like 50% exstra for 100% memory increase over just buying 4gb.

People say 4GB but with the pricing of RAM nowadays' date=' it's hard not to justify getting 8GB or even 16GB (~$80ish USD). 8GB is only around ~$40-50 and it'd be a waste not to get 8GB of dual channel memory.[/quote'] I don't agree. Unless your using RAMDISK or some video editing(which I don't event think you need a lot) you don't need 8gb. I know "better safe then sorry" but if your a gamer or an average consumer 4GB is enough. It's cheap and you can put the saved money towards other parts of your build.
8GB is only ~$40. It'd be pretty stupid to pass 8GB of RAM for the amount you're paying for. It's more future proof. 4GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233173 $27.99 USD 8GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145315 $38.99 USD (~$9 more) 8GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233180 $45.99 USD (~$18 more) 8GB is more worth it for it's price, especially if building a new computer.

how dare you post newegg links on NCIX's website :O

Its not so much that you did a memory upgrade, you were merely bottlenecking your system...

Higher speeds also help out in boot times and numerous other things. I would've bought two if I were you.
Higher speeds do help in gaming cas latency doesn't help that much in gaming.

they do help, but only in benchmarks. no real world performance increases though. but ram is so cheap this days, so why not picking up a 1866 set instead of a 1333 mhz?

Personally i think 16Gb is perfect at the moment around 100 euro for vengeance at 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24

Works nicely for simulations.

4GB's is basically all you need for any game. 2GB is indeed a little short.

Higher speeds don't boost performance within games.

Sure they do, it's just very marginal unless you're using an APU.

I got 32GB on black friday because it was cheap. Only $109.
Lol I debated that same thing only i chose not to as I already had 16 and didn't use any art programs to justify it.

I had 12GB assorted memory. I thought it would be the perfect time to get 4 quad channel dimms.

As Linus has said to touch on "or some video editing(which I don't event think you need a lot)" you DO need a lot. Linus has said and seen that Diesel (maybe it was the Crazy Russian?) was capping their 16GB of memory on their rendering machine. It is very easy to get to 20GB when you are doing legit video editing. Anyway for my personal use I am using 6.8GB of memory right now at this instant and I have nothing open except a ton of browsers/instant messengers. So =/

I have 8GB of memory, but I will be getting 24GB more... reason, I run quite few VMs on my Desktop. With that said, for gaming only, I don't think you need more than 8GB in your system.

Good for you ! Personally i think that for a 64 bit operating system ( you probably have 32 bit , you should upgrade :/ ) 6gb of ram is the sweet spot , not too much (8gb) not too low (4gb). But it's kinda hard to find ( you have to buy 1x4gb and 1x2gb :( ) but for a budget build its ok !
I no its useless for gaming and most applications but I have 16 GB lol i figured hey y not u no?? also i can run 4 Virtual Boxes at once with no issues so thats pretty cool :P

Haha, 8GB+ RAM FTW. I personally rock 16GB but if I didn't have a budget, I'd max out my board @ 32GB.

It doesn't matter who sponsors the connection for the forum. If this was a NCIX strictly website, I wouldn't even be here. Personally for me, Newegg offers better prices over NCIX USA. And from far as I can tell, there are a lot of Europeans here from Britain. Do you expect them not to link from scan.co.uk?

Lastly, no offense but the layout for Newegg in terms of technical specifications are A LOT cleaner than NCIX.

Example: http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=70541&vpn=BX80637I53570K&manufacture=Intel

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

The layout of Newegg is so much cleaner and easier to look at the specs of a 3570K.
