Saw this PC in a classifieds. Wanted to know if its a good deal or not.

Pretty bad with my knowledge of older components.

i7-920

6GB of DDR3 1600Mhz ram

AMD Radeon HD5850

120GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Unspecified 750W PSU

He is asking for $500 AUD ($356 USD)

Id mainly want these components to make a m-ITX build for basic LAN games (Dota 2) and to use as a media PC in my bedroom

Depending on the board you might be able to flip the original for $150+ X58 boards go for a ton. I dunno where you'll find a m-ITX board but if you already have found one then yeah it isn't a bad deal. Maybe you could even talk them down to an even $300 USD.

Be sure you can find a board with that specific CPU socket (LGA-1366) - these boards are very rare these days.

Also check the PSU - they are of great importance as they power the whole PC, and if they have a temper tantrum, they will incinerate every other component in that case, as well as burn down your house. Check for its efficiency, and brand - at least above 80+ recommended. As for brands, Cooler Master, Corsair, EVGA, and Seasonic are the best brands out there.

Nothing to see here ;)

Thanks for the info guys. Wasnt aware that finding a m-ITX board for this socket was that difficult. Might just leave it for now haha

You're aware that you can put an $80 cpu in there and have performance similar to an overclocked 4790k and a stock 5820k?

And yeah... thats why I asked what board because that could mean the difference in decent value or really really good value.

I don't think you would find an ITX.... I can't even think of one off the top of my head, I think maybe EVGA and Intel had one but I don't think Gigabyte or Asus might've even had one, don't quote me on that just going off memory.
