4690k is HOT!

Hey guys, just curious on if anyone with a 4690k has issues with heat?  I am running it with a stock cooler, and i know im not going to get great temps, but i was playing fallout 4 for about an hour or so, and i hit 93 degrees Celsius... im going to watercool it here soon.  Should i avoid playing games until then? Am i damaging my cpu? thanks for any input

Double check the heat-sync and paste. Sounds like a bad connection between the two.

If not that, try toning down the quality of the game.

i dont have any thermal paste:( could i just try re setting the cooler? or will i screw it up more if i dont have paste

A 4690K? Everyone knows Intel cpus suck and get very hot. You should get an FX-9590. It's far more powerful and runs at nice fresh temps.

While it probably wouldn't screw it up, I wouldn't recommend it, because if something happens you can't re-seat the cooler. The devil canyon cpu's have been known to run hot, just how people talk about hitting the silicon lottery, there is a flipside to that. Not to mention Fallout 4 does use more of the cpu than most games so maybe turn the settings down until you can get a better cooler.

arma 3 i got up to 80 degrees, i play fallout on ultra so that could be it?

Try running a cpu stress test like aida64 or similar and see what your temps get to after letting it run for a while.
