Hey guys, I've been working on my very first PC build, and I would appreciate my help. I already have everything planned out, but would appreciate some last minute changes.

Here's the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Pokepaperlink/saved/FwR7YJ

I've currently bought the CPU cooler, graphics card, case, and ram.

(PARTS I HAVE BOUGHT)

CPU Cooler: I've been told that if I want any upgradeability, that I should get this CPU cooler for the sake of not letting my CPU overheat for any reason.

Case: The case has 5 pre-installed fans, made out of aluminum, aside from the green tinted plastic side panel, and one of the reasons why I bought it was because it was green.

Graphics Card: The graphics card is all I need for now, and I can save up around $300 for a better one in the future.

Ram: I was wanting to get 8 gigs of ram first, and upgrade it later when I get more money, yet I've been told from numerous sources that I should get 16 gigs of ram first, so I did.

I still need to order the CPU, Motherboard, Hard Drives, and Power Supply.

Windows 10 was recommended to me because it is very familiar, but if I don't have enough money to order it, I will probably stick with Linux, alongside the monitor and keyboard/mouse.

I don't need these things, yet they are still upgrades from what I currently have now.

My Price range is ~$900 for the entire build/setup

The price for the tower is ~$700

I would love some feedback on what I would need to do, and I plan on upgrading this build as needed, starting with the graphics card. I plan on keeping the case untill some of the fans get shot.

I only plan on using this build to play simple games.

(EXAMPLES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

CS:GO, TF2, TERRARIA, UNTURNED,

TROVE, INSURGENCY, EVERQUEST2,

GMOD, CONTAGION, RUST, AND UNDERTALE

TL;DR

First build, need some opinions on if it is good, I've ordered some parts already, and the price range is less that $1000

main purpose is minor-mid level gaming.

If you guys need any more information, just comment down below!

Is it good? No. Why? $900 budget, you have a 750ti as well as a CX psu. You have a locked I5 with a Z motherboard, you payed an atrocious amount for the motherboard given your budget, I costs almost as much as your gpu, you can do better on the ssd.

dont go with the apevia case. I had one and it sucked. it almost shorted out my motherboard. 16 gb seems a little exsessive for what your doing, and I would personally go with corsair ram. (Note: your not going to be able to overclock with that cpu, you need one with a k at the end of the model no., although your cooler could handle it)

That's what I need to hear, I don't want to go wrong on this build, and I would love to hear any ideas you have. Once again, I put some of the parts on there for the sake of upgradablility, without needing to change out the entire motherboard, and I bought the SSD for the sake of booting up my computer, and launching different applications faster that I use commonly. But again, I appreciate your feedback! Do you buy chance have any recommendations on what parts I need?

Depends, can you still return the parts you already ordered?

Cheaper locked board, stayed with the 4460 in order to keep the os in in case you don´t feel comfortable with buying an os key off of reddit, kingwin, g2a, or etc. 380 much better than 750ti, xfx psu kicks the cx´s ass. Mini black and red theme. Ram is probably the cheapest and easiest upgrade you can do in a computer, 8 is still more than fine for now. Whoever told you you need 16 for what you need to do is stupid.

Isn´t much I could do in the worst case scenario. Changed a couple of parts around to give you back a little value, but since you already purchased the gpu, and that being on of the most crucial parts of a gaming build, all I could do was give you a better psu and more value for your money. Not much, but a bit back.

I appreciate everything you've done, and I'm glad that I could broaden my views on different things. I'll be sure to switch my motherboard around to something cheaper, and the power supply is nice too. Really, thank you!

I appreciate everything you've done, and I'm glad that I could broaden my views on different things. I'll be sure to switch my motherboard around to something cheaper, and the power supply is nice too. Really, thank you!

No problem.

dont go with the apevia case. I had one and it sucked. it almost shorted out my motherboard. 16 gb seems a little exsessive for what your doing, and I would personally go with corsair ram. (Note: your not going to be able to overclock with that cpu, you need one with a k at the end of the model no., although your cooler could handle it)

Beings that I already have the case ordered, do you have any idea how to reduce the risk of shorting out any parts?

Ehm, sir, you obviously haven't read the whole message. I currently have bought a gigabyte geforce gtx 750 ti (which I plan on upgrading, I just needed a really efficient graphics card), I also got the case, cpu cooler, and ram from the original build. My apologies if this threw you off, but I'd just thought I would say this.

You asked what we thought.  I listed a build for the same amount of money.  I stated my build was a TON better.

Find the people that are "helping" you and tell them they need to learn about the value of PC parts to a better degree.  For $960, you are not getting your money's worth.

:)
