I'm pretty sure I can try posting to check my processor without any RAM installed, as I haven't received it yet. Anyone with evidence to the contrary?

No you cant post without ram because your computer will have nothing to do operations with because there is no ram.

I know the question sounded noob but here's what I was getting at. If I try to power on the computer with no RAM installed, and it fails to completely post, but only errors out on the RAM, that is a pretty good indicator that the CPU passed its POST test as it tests the CPU first. Am I on the right track?

My MB is a remanufactured unit from a well known supplier, but the CPU was purchased as a 'new, open box' item and I don't have a ton of time to start a claim if it's DOA. It is super clean and shows no signs of installation so I just want to double check that I didn't buy a complete dud.
