So after some time i finally have some goodies for myself and i'm gonna upgrade my pc.

My current specs are

Intel Core i5-2400 3,10ghz
Motherboard asustek p8h77-i
4GB DDR3 x2 = 8GB ddr3
Geforce GTX 770
----
My upgrade is gonna look like this

CPU - Intel Core i5-6500 Skylake
Ram - Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4-2133 DC - 16GB - So X2 8GBS kingston hyper ddr4
Motherboard - MSI Z170A TOMAHAWK
And the same graphics card.
(Free) NZXT tower case h440 white model with 4 corsair fans non default.

Is that a good upgrade. I must say i'm on a budget sitting at 559,19$.

I started streaming just recently and my old I5-2400 really performs (okay) when it's older games like far cry 2 - Crysis 2-3 rocket league etc.

But when it comes to AAA+ Games like (The division) (tomb raider) (etc) it's really starting to hurt my cpu

My i5 is really old as well and the 6500 out performs 2400 in every way.

BUT how much do you think of difference it will make to my streaming (with obs) open broadcaster software.

Will i have enough power to do a good stream with an i5-6500.

I mean, I´d want something with more threads for streaming. 1231v3 would probably do great for your case.

Though how much more expensive is it than the 6500? I'm really on bare ground when it comes to cpu's. I'm also quite limited when it comes to (high end) expensive hardware.

found it here https://www.proshop.dk/CPU/Xeon-E3-1231-V3-Box/2448739?s=1231

it's a lot more expensive but i heard Xeon is really the way forward when it comes to using a lot of cpu power (streaming) (rendering) etc

Where are you located? It has more threads, but I´m pretty sure it´s only like $50 more, and mobo. and ram will probably be cheaper.

I would advice to upgrade to an Intel Xeon E3-1231v3, read why in tomshardware's cpu recommendations. Depending on your budget, i would pair the Xeon 1231 with a nvidia 960 or 970 gpu. The low tdp of both gpu's fits well in mini itx systems. The system should draw about 375 Watts (970) or 335 Watts (960). Maybe you can find a cheap 2nd hand xeon and 960 on the internet for 60% of the storeprices, the double upgrade could cost you around $250 (xeon+960), greed is good.

- I think you will need a new mobo+memory for the i5-6500 system, those are expensive. My suggestion is to upgrade 2 of your current computerparts and not to build a whole new rig. A system consisting of a xeon 1231 and a 960 or 970 can play most modern games on enjoyable qualities worth streaming.

- You need cores for streaming: Xeon has 4 cores + hyperthreading = 8, i5-6500 has 4 cores.

Good luck.

This is what i found as to things to buy

CPU - Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 - Box

RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4-2133 DC - 16GB

Motherboard - MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition

Wouldn't my gtx 770 perform equlant to those items?

Can´t use DDR4 with the haswell set.

would i be able to stream division - tomb raider - far cry primal etc. in which i can't now?

Streaming, probably.

I see i would miss out on most of the never features of today if i decided a Xeon. It's strong as **** i can see that. But if i need those newer features that (normal) i7's and i5's have today i need a motherboard that's around 3-5000Dkk today which is sky high.

Actually, the only really new feature is the DDR4, and that´s not really worth it.

Ohh i see.

I've been reading a little up and down. And i can see that the I7-4790K performs really well, as well.

I never ran a Xeon CPU before and i heard it's a lot to do with server stuff and running businesses etc. And require some more (special parts) for it to work.

but the I7 has 4 cores and 8 threads. I really don't know what threads are so..

The I7 is 88,67$ more than the xeon.

overall

(I7-4790K) 369,45$

(Xeon E3) 298,52.

The 1231v3 xeon will run on standered boards. It´s a less fancy one, and it´s pretty much the 4790k except locked and no igpu.

So i guess a i7 will be better in the long run?

thanks for your help. You've helped with some great questions so far.

I'm looking at the

Intel Core i7-4790K Devils Canyon

To be exact.

More or less a great cpu for streaming i hear. I can do witcher 3 without hairworks but everything else ultra with only it using 40% cpu.

is actually affordable so i can OC the 6700k.

I think i will be set with that. What do you think?

If you can afford, by all means go for it.
