Hi guys, my lens wobbles when I touch it or apply pressure, this is an issue as I use manual focus and the lens in question is the Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm any help is appreciated. Thanks!

That's normal for kit lenses.

Really? It wobbles maybe a cm and a half... I was just concerned about it.

In and out? How does it wobble? 1.5cm is not normal.

Not in and out, sideways and maybe I exaggerated a bit for the measurement, maybe 1.1cm at most.

You may want to file a warranty claim if you're still in warranty (probably not).

Does it affect focusing? Since it's side-to-side I don't think there should be an issue, even if there is you could just get a newer 18-55 and use the current one as a tilt-shift.

No it isn't under warranty as it a old camera, and it affects focusing by making screeching noises and it doesn't focus as well as it did, this started about a month ago.

I can only say get a new one. Kit lenses like that are notoriously hard to fix.

They're also pretty cheap - maybe upgrade to a Tamron 17-55 f/2.8.
