Is it worth to buy Skylake (LG 1151 chipset ) and spend 100 more dollars on the motherboard and have a better advantage for DirectX12, or just go with LGA 1150 chipset and save 100 dollars and buy a better GPU with it

You can get DX12 advantages for going with a Skylake platform?

Anyway, price to performance: Haswell, Haswell Refresh > Skylake. I'm using a used 2700K setup for $250 USD, best deal I've ever gotten.

because i'm aesthetic whore, there arent many white motherboards that i like, and the one that i particularly would jump to would be on the skylake platform. but then again, holding out out one more year for cannonlake might yield the same results.

Don't fail me now as i've failed you then.

Oh it will be if Zen becomes a massive failure, RIP our wallets. Well for those who have a lot of money then that's their choice to upgrade every year to a newer platform.

If it means sacrificing other areas of things you could buy, then don't get skylake.

IE: if you can buy a 6700k + all the fixins and can only get a 980, but you can get a 4790k & 980 ti, then obviously get the 4790k.

The difference between Devil's Canyon (Haswell Refresh) and Skylake is marginal at best. Yes DDR4 is a thing but even then it isn't that much better than DDR3 currently. I would go with a 4790K and a nice Z97 board.
