No signal while overclocking my gpu?

Go to solution Solved by Moonzy,

or u can go increment of 5 until u find an unstable one, back down, then increase voltage, then continue

or u can be lazy like me and max temp and power limit then start OC from, say +100 or smth (depends on your gpu)

Hey guys just wanted to ask why is my monitor showing no signal after i tried ramping up the core clock? the valley benchmark is still going on butthe monitor shows no signal.

means its unstable o-o?

Oh i see. So that means i need to bump down the core clock until i get a stable one then try to bump my core voltage and then try to use the core clock that crashed?

Oh i see. Yeah this was the guide i was using right now while overclocking i started at 100 it seems fine then i placed 150 and i get no signal after a few minutes while running valley benchmark.

are you trying to overclock your 970?
u can start from 1400 Mhz (not off set 1400, that would be insane xD)
most 970 can go 1400

yep i'm trying to oc it right now now im trying +140 offset and as of now it's going smoothly. 15mins past by now and the monitor isn't showing no signal and the benchmark is going loops right now.

earlier i think i had 1430MHz while i had a +140 offset but it crashed now im running at 1404Mhz with +130 offset and it's running about 30mins or more right now with no crashes. BTW wanted to ask should i touch the voltage. i really want to try overclocking it more but i'm worrying if i moved the voltage up it can shorten the lifespan of the card right? and i am looking forward to sell this card in the future when the new cards are released.

well im still new to pc, but from what ive heard, the card likely wont die if u overvolt it without flashing the bios to unlock more voltages

my 970 allows for 37mV overvolt but after changing it, my gpu voltage didnt change xD still 1.212 whether i offset it or not

Oh i see maybe i'll just leave it alone for now and just go straight to memory overclocking.

its also wise to step down a couple steps after u find the stable voltage, just to be sure ;D
i stepped down about 20~50mhz core clock xD

Okay i'll do that when i go and change the voltage.

also, being able to loop benchmark doesnt mean its stable

my gpu was stable at 1416mhz when im stress testing but crashed in certain games so i tuned it down to 1350 xD

it does take time to fine tune, thats why i just max the power limit slider and voltage slider, and just key in w/e offset seems fit xD

Hahaha yeah thought of that too but just wanted to be careful with the card anyways thanks dude. It seems i found the right settings with +130 offset in core clock and +380 offset in memory clock been running now with no crashes.
