So if i go with a Xeon processor for my motherboard, would i have to update the BIOS in order to make sure that its working properly?

No, just make sure your motherboard supports Xeon processors.

New Xeons use LGA2011-3. That board has an LGA1150 socket. Not going to work.

 

You need an X99 board to use a Xeon. Try this.

 

If you can't afford that, you probably can't afford a Xeon and for day-to-day use an i7 is going to be better in every way.

well i got a Xeon E3-1275 v3 which is an 1150 LGA like the mobo

Oh - in that case you'll need a 1155 board, which is not compatible with that motherboard.

Thank you!!! I just thought about if it would be compatible with the mobo. says it is, but i didnt know if i needed a BIOS update

I edited the post - that's not going to work since the board is LGA 1150 and the E3-1275 is 1155.

And from my understanding, the xeon i have selected, and an i7-4790, will run basically about the same give or take 5%
