basically.. The 980Ti mops the floor with the 980 in every game/scenario. The 980Ti is a better performing (gaming wise) and cheaper Titan X.

I like the sound of that :)

Prices are completely unknown right now. The "Next gen" is Pascal btw. It's being released in april this year. I'd wait just so the current cards take a dive in price. Unless of course the new cards are that much better.

Also, ''much better'' is an understatement. The current generation has been stuck with the same transistor size for 3 graphics iterations. The 7000, 200, 300, 600, 700 and 900 series are built on pretty much the same technology. With the relatively marginal gains in performance, one would expect as the production technique becomes more refined and the manufacturers get to know the technology better. Since the 7000 series, we have only had HBM as new technology.

The next generation pascal and Polaris is reducing the size of the transistors twice, by skipping the 20nm technology which have been available for a couple of years. The reason why it was skipped is complicated, but the short story is cost related. In addition, we are also getting HBM2 memory for the enthusiast models and possibly the high end segment, and GDDR5X for the mid level and possibly the low end gamer segment.
