I recently tried to install Asus Dual Intelligent Processors 5. However, something went wrong with my computer and I had to restart it. But now, when I turn on/restart my computer, the lighting on my mouse and keyboard work fine, so I assume the port is working, but just as I get to the log in screen, all the lights go out and neither mouse nor keyboard works. I have tried using all the different ports, as well as a second keyboard, but everything seems to stop working right before the log in screen. Any idea of what it could be?

try un-install the Asus software

check in the BIOS and see if the USB devices was disabled by the software

try to get a PS2 keyboard and mouse

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

All the USB ports seem to be enabled. I'm not able to type or click anything due to the ports turning off. I don't think I have any bluetooth devices, so at the moment, that's not an option. Anything else? Should I reinstall Windows? I don't think it is a Windows problem though...

Go into save mode and uninstall the software and try again if you like.

Me personally believe Asus' software is complete rubbish so wouldn't bother.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Just did that, but still no luck. Mouse and keyboard worked fine in safe mode and BIOS, but not for regular Windows or when I tried disabling driver signature enforcement. Anything else I could do?

Does Device manager say anything in safe mode?

Can you try a system restore to just before the software was installed?

No, for some reason System Restore is turned off. If nothing else works, could I do a reinstallation on Windows? I know I will lose all my apps and programs, but as long as I don't lose my Steam games, I should be fine.

But I would rather figure something else before I do that.

You can always reinstall Windows. If your games and important files are on another drive (which they should be) then unplug that drive when you format.

However wait a little while and see if anyone comes up with a better idea.

Is there any chance your USB's have been disabled in bios, or an option changed?

No, everything is enabled. It must just be something with the keyboard and mouse drivers or something. I'll leave my computer off for the next day or so, then try again. Thank you for your help
