Hello, I'm planning on building my 1st custom PC. I am not clueless, but I am not a nerd either. I am not rich, the budget is ~1000$ CAD. I am an enthusiast. I love having the best of the best. I will be gaming, watching FHD content, using Photoshop, web browsing, downloading LOTS of stuff, listening to music and making some, and more. So, here is a list of components:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A88X-D3HP (rev. 1.0)

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB)

CPU: AMD A10-7870K

CPU Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

GPU: XFX Radeon R9 390

Storage: [OS, PNY CS2211 2.5" 240GB] [2nd HD, WD Blue 1TB]

PSU: EVGA 110-B2-0850-V1 80 PLUS Bronze 850 W Semi-Modular

Case: MasterCase Pro 5

And that's what I've come up with. Just to say, this build will only be realisable in August or July. Fell free to reply and please, don't just spew whatever comes to mind. This here is serious, and important. If you've looked in my profile, my current pc is seriously stupid weak. I NEED a LOT more firepower. So please, give me serious suggestions. And elaborate your choice. Explain your reason, no need to give me a sermon, just a short explanation will suffice. :) Thanks, and another thanks. For taking the time and replying.

The A10 is really weak for photoshop. Go for an Intel i5, and you don't need a R9 390 especially if you only have an A10 7870K, maybe go for a 380X.

Main Gaming Rig:

Spoiler

Core i7-4770, Cryorig M9i Cooler, ASUS B85M GAMER, 8GB HyperX Fury Red 2x4GB 1866MHz, KFA2 GTX 970 Infin8 Black Edition "4GB", 1TB Seagate SSHD, 256GB Crucial m4 SSD, 60GB Corsair SSD for Kerbal and game servers, Thermaltake Core V21 Case, EVGA SuperNOVA 650W G2.

Secondary PC:

Spoiler

i5-2500k OCed, Raijintek Themis, Intel Z77GA-70K, 8GB HyperX Genesis in grey, GTX 750 Ti, Gamemax Falcon case.

If you're dead set on an FM2+ based platform save some scratch and get the Athlon 860k instead of the 7870k. They're the same cpu just the 860k does not have an iGPU.

But if you really want "the best of the best" you'd be better off getting an i5 4690k or even a 6600k to pair with that 390. There's nothing wrong with an FM2 system, they're just not really high end.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

For a 1000 dollar budget you could get something like an intel core i5 quad core. That gives you four much more powerful cores that are much better for photo and video editing than the 7870k. Since you got a Master Pro 5, not to say its a bad case but it's not cheap, it may be hard squeezing in a better CPU. My suggestion would be to get a cheaper case like Corsair 230t or the new Phanteks Eclipse P400s, both of which are excellent case choices, and get a more powerful cpu like an intel i5 quad core.

But the 390 has an 8gb frame buffer which would be great of photo and video editing

The 8GB helps nothing for editing photos, unless the applications are GPU accelerated, or you use GPU encoding for the video.

True, but having that 8gb frame buffer is nice though, especially for gaming at higher resolutions.

Bottleneck?

The A10 cpu you chose won't be able to keep up with the R9 390 (it will slow down the GPU).

Yup, I've decided to go for Intel. I'll take the i5, and pretty much everything here. Except, I'll have 16GB of ram (2x8), and an SSD for OS. Thanks, :).

Sorry, but I just realized, I need a WI-FI card. So, that motherboard won't do it. I'll search on my own for an alternative...
