Help! PC Not turning on

Go to solution Solved by zberry7,

Try reassembling your PC with only the Motherboard, one stick of RAM, processor and PSU. See if it will post.

Try a difference PSU if you have one handy, and try resetting your CMOS.

I had not used my pc in about a week, but it worked fine then, but now (after doing some cable management), the PC will not turn on when the power button is pressed, but the LEDs on my HyperX Cloud IIs will turn on, making this not a PSU problem. (The PSU is fine) Could this possibly be a problem between the link of the power button and motherboard?

im guessing it's probably a problem with the power switch cable, double check the diagram on your motherboard, to make sure the power switch cable is in the right spot...? just a thought that it might be that, maybe not tho

The fact that the headset lights up doesn't mean the power supply is fine, the headset uses 5 V for the USB, and there are many other voltages in the PSU that could be failing.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

hmm... doesn't the 24pin connector supply power to usb on the motherboard, along with some other things?  if so, shouldnt the fans at least spin?

It might be that you mistakenly disconnected or didn't properly re-connect the front panel connectors on your motherboard, causing the power button on your case to not work. Look at your motherboard manual and make sure all your front panel connectors are plugged in correctly. If you have a pre-built computer, the motherboard might have a diagram on it showing where  each connector should go. You could also try shorting out the two power pins on the panel connectors on your motherboard, to see if in fact that it is your case power button that is causing you trouble.

Well... I have 4 PCIe power
(2 of which are used for my gpu)

and 2 HDD power (which 2 can be used)

but, one cable (hdd) that leads to many parts cannot be connected... which is the one that controls my fans.

I have targeted the thing down to one part - my original fan controller, which has been working perfectly for the past 6 months... disconnecting this somehow makes the pc work, but disconnecting it means that my fans do not work whatsoever.

Very good, can you simply connect the fans to the motherboard headers and try controlling them through the BIOS or some software?

At least until you get the fan controller replaced?

thanks, all i had to do is swap around the molex connectors between devices on the same cable and it worked... can anyone explain how? when i used the same molex for the same thing, they did not work, even after reseating...

Bad connection on the pins of the connector?
