Displayport adapter issues

Go to solution Solved by Josh,

Tried setting a custom res without any luck, been doing some reading and I'll try an older version of catalyst. Failing that I might just buy a new one and make sure its on the 'officially supported' list.

Edit: New sapphire adapter arrived and all works just fine.

Hey guys, having trouble with my triple monitor setup at the moment. My third monitor is connected with an active displayport to dvi adapter however it shows up as "generic non-pnp monitor" in windows/catalyst. The DP adapter I'm using is this one which I just purchased. I've has this setup working previously for about a year on my 6970 CF setup using a mini DP to dvi adapter, however I swapped this out for a single 7970 which has full size DP instead of miniDP thus I bought a new adapter (exactly the same, visually at least. Just mini dp instead).

I've tried manually loading the driver for my monitor however this didn't work, anyone got any ideas? or is it most likely just a crappy adapter? just wanted to make sure before wasting another $50 on one.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the resolution on this monitor can't be set above 640x480. It detects and can be used, however the resolution is locked

That is just how it is, the display information is not passed trough to the adapter.

What 7970 do you have and which connectors are you using with the other two monitors?

Using a sapphire 7970 Dual-x OC edition, the other two monitors are connected using dvi. Just realized I forgot to mention that the resolution for the third monitor can't be set above 640x480 which is the problem.
