Building my first gaming PC, what do you think?

My laptop has done it's job, even admirably at times, but it's time for something new, the real thing. Having to run everything on low, experiencing heavily inconsistent fps, and cringing at the reality that I'm stretching it's capabilities, I've realized it's time to upgrade.

With helpful advice from computer programmer's and other tech savvy friends, I've compiled what I think would be a great gaming rig for my needs. I don't need 4k display or 32gb of ram, partially because it's intimidating, and also because the cost can be murder. I feel pretty strong about the graphics card, memory, and peripherals, but I'm open to any and all pieces of advice. Using pcpartpicker.com, the following has been what I've been nerding out over for the past few weeks. My budget sits between $1500- $1900.

For a grand total of $1760.50:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

MOTHERBOARD:  ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

RAM:   Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

HDD:   Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

SSD:   Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

GPU:   EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card

CASE:   Corsair Carbide Series 300R Windowed ATX Mid-Tower Case

PWR SUPPLY:  Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

OS:  Microsoft Windows Home 10 (64-bit)

KEYBOARD:   Corsair K95 RBG Wired Gaming Mechanical (Cherry MX Browns) Keyboard

MONITOR:   Asus VS239H-P 23.0" Monitor

Damn guys, you know you stuff. I don't think I'll need the i7 or an aftermarket CPU cooler, as I won't be doing any overclocking. It seems like you all think getting a power supply with a lower max wattage isn't a problem, but I may want to get another card in the future, and then the i7 and all that would follow. I'd also like to keep the SSD at 500gb, just to allow extra fast boot times for various games and systems. I also really like the 300R case. Howabout the RAM? Do you guys think 8 is enough?

I wasn't talking about its overclocking capabilities. I was talking ablut Ivy Bridge and socket 1155 in general.

Z97 motherboard is pointless unless you have a intel K processor and a 750 watt PSU isn't completely necessary, you can save some cash getting a 550 watt or 600 watt PSU

that may be true, but if he settles for a 3570k he can also get a cheaper motherboard

8gbs of ram should be fine, some newer games can take advantage of more ram, but if you ever need more it's pretty simple and easy to upgrade.

What games to I play? Anything Bethesda, all the borderlands, cities: skylines, Farcry 3 and 4, Bioshock: Infinite, and probably lots more once I see what it's capable of. Oh, and I'm Canadian.

Here's another build, I consciously didn't include any peripherals. I think you simply could get so much more performance for your money.
