Yeah, I do graphic design and had a big project that's supposed to be done Monday. It would be really bad if I had to delete all those templates I have.

Sounds like you have hard disk errors. Open the Command Prompt when the Installation DVD Loads and type the following commands.

chkdsk /r c:

chkdsk /r d:

chkdsk /r e:

chkdsk /r f:

.etc until you get the message that the volume could not be opened for direct access. For any drives that do not give the message:
"Windows has checked the file system and found no problems"
run chkdsk again as above. In other words, if it says:
"Windows has made corrections to the file system"
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

That sucks. Can't you just connect the drive to another PC (i.e. with an USB Docking Station) to back up your project first?

I have all my client's stuff and my personal docs on my HDD so if I have to reinstall the OS on the SSD it's much less of an hassle.

Alright I'm gonna try this. It seems like it's gonna take a while to do the check disk for C:  I'll check back in 30 minutes or so.

I'm not quite sure.. I have the file destination written down, so how can I check?

also, is it possible to transfer the folder with my project from C: drive to E: drive within command prompt?

Okay so I have the file destination link written down, and the destination to where I want it to go. Is there a way I can transfer these files between the two drives?

Oh you just caught me. What a coincidence lol

You can do it over CMD, but also by GUI. Just type in notepad and go to File>Open. Now you should be in a familiar File Explorer. From there on you can locate to My Computer and check whether your HDD is or isn't showing up. If it is, just pull all the important stuff to an External HDD or a USB thumb drive.

If only I knew what GUI was lol. I'm in notepad and typing that does nothing for me.

not quite what i was thinking, but heres a link http://www.wikihow.com/Copy-Files-in-Command-Prompt

what i was thinking (if it was in like pictures, videos, my documents) your personal files you could reset your pc without it being lost. However the reset would wipe everything else off the drive (apart from where I said)

I tried it but cmd couldn't find my files. And I also can't see them on my C: drive, but I know they're there because my SSD still has all that space being taken up. And when I ran a check Disk it wen't through a list of my program files that I have on it but aren't visible.

Well, I finally gave up and was just gonna reset my PC but I couldn't even do that Via the windows repair on my install disk... FML

Do you know If It should be okay to format my SSD with windows on it? I imagine it would work but I would just have to reinstall windows for the third time.
