Starting Build

So I don't have many options available but I want to know if this build sounds good to start off. Budget $500 USD

CPU: Intel Core i5 6500 4 Core, 6MB cache, 3.2 GHz, LGA 1151 (thoughts?, thinking DDR4 and long term is it worth it? the first skylake and new.... ?) $147

Mb: GIGABYTE GA-Z170 Gaming (3?) LGA1151 DDR4, (is LGA 1151 good for a few years? I know it's mandatory for DDR4) $183

RAM: RIPJAWS DDR4 2x4GB 2666MHz (yes only 8 total but room for 8 more, can't fit more for now money-wise) $70

PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze $45

Case: Aerocool XPredator x1 EvilBlack Edition (yes dirt cheap but not many options, is it too terrible?) $45

TOTAL: $490  (+10 for mountain dews and doritos makes $500)

SSD: 240GB PNY CS1111 (chose this 'cuz I can get it cheap only for OS's and maybe a couple games) $70 (Maybe now maybe not... not included in budget) (got HDDs laying around)

I'm thinking Later on i can buy a GIGABYTE R9 380 2GB DDR5 (integrated graphics for me till then), would the 500W be alright or should i get 600W in case? (or more??)

So mainly I went as far as I could go into the budget with the CPU and Mb...

So... opinions!!! Happy to hear from any-and-everyone

If you're going for a z170 board, you may want to invest in a K-series CPU, like the i5 6600k or i7 6700k.

I'd go for a 600+ watt psu for upgradability. XFX makes some nice ones.

For case, you may want to spend like 20 dollars more for an NZXT S340 or comparable, although it's personal preference when it comes to things like that.

Snorlax: i7 5820k @4.5ghz, Asus X99 Pro, 32gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, Samsung 850 evo 500gb, Asus GTX 1080 ROG Strix, Corsair RM850x, NZXT H440, Hue+

Smallsnor: Huawei Matebook X

Canon AE-1 w/ 50mm f/1.8 lens

Pentax KM w/ 55mm f/1.8 SMC lens

Zenit-E w/ 58mm f/2 Helios lens

Panasonic G7 with 14-42mm f/3.5 lens

Polaroid Spectra System

What country?

What are you doing on your PC?

Country? (Relevance?)

I shall be gaming, casual stuff LoL, AC:Unity, CS:GO, SMITE, DoTA, etc..., and video editing but nothing major, no 4k or 30 min videos. Also Low-Budget Music Production, rendering mostly. And I like to fuck around with Photoshop GIMP and Blander. Programming, running localhost server(s) - Xampp and Lampp and such nothing too major, and Virtualization, aybe 2 at a time. (Obviously not all of this at the same time I don't need a LTT-type monster).

If there is an option for your country in pcpartpicker.com I would have selected it.

Look to my new post.

Thank you but pcpartpicker/amazon/newegg  shipping is not an option for me :/

I thank you for your example build but I'm more interested in your opinion on my choices.. I see your build is more efficient (specially money-wise) but many of those parts are not available for me.

You are spending way to much on the Ram and the motherboard (Probably the case as well).

Get the cheapest 8GB kit of DDR4 Ram and the cheapest LGA 1151 motherboard that supports DDR4 (Most of them do).

A dirt cheap case (Possibly even a used case) is probably a good idea since a $70 case is going to break your budget.

You should be able to afford a R9 380 into a $500 build.

The PSU you picked is probably shit, I am guessing it is an EVGA 500B. Get a 500W PSU from XFX or Seasonic or selected models from EVGA such as the B2, GS, G2 or GQ.

I don't think I can get Corsair.... How do you feel about Thermaltake?

I did not mention Corsair and Thermaltake doesn't make good PSUs.

Yeah you did not mention Corsair but I assumed you'd consider it good (enough), what other brand besides XFX do you like for PSUs?
