I had for a short time an AMD FX-8350. This CPU went all the way up to 4 GHz stable with the stock cooler but even in idle, the HSF was quite loud (although it was copper based). The problem was solved with an aftermarket heatsink and fan (quiet and much cooler)

that CPU should go all the way up to 4,2~4,3GHz (turbo) stable :P

GPU drivers giving you a hard time? Try this! (DDU)

It reached 4.7Ghz stable in Windows 7 64Bit environment. I'm an AMD fan and I've been a fan for a long time. Although I have an Intel system (i7 5930K) I would definitely build again an AMD system (and an extreme one) for the fun of it. My "philosophy" goes as following... If someone ask me to recommend a business system then I'd suggest an Intel based one. If someone asks me about a pure gaming system them I'd suggest an AMD one (if he wants to save some money on it). Other than that you can build anything you may please....

Have you tried lowering fan speeds?
