So today my steam client update and decided to break everything.

my specs are

CPU amd 4100 OC to 4.2GHZ

AMD 5830 OC to 925/1175

6GB ddr3

WD 250Gb hard drive

Everything was running smooth and fine last night but today , ugh , every so often id get a full game freeze it would last around 30 seconds then be good for about 5 minutes.

My loading times have almost doubled , you click "play" in steam , steam brings up its loading window, then it just sits there for a good solid 5 minutes no matter what game i load.

Thoughts?

Do a few things....

  1. verify integrity of game cache
  2. restart steam then shut it down again
  3. then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and ONLY delete appcache folder and ClientRegistry.blob
  4. restart steam
  5. check for improvements

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

ive narrowed it down to a dying hard drive , steam encounters "drive write errors" when i reinstall my games
