Simple build for two office desktops for my mom's business

Zero_Cool

Just would like some ideas for a build of two office desktops, for my mom's business, basically word processing, e-mail, browsing and decent storage for docs, and a set of 27inch monitors. she has the budget at $1000, does anyone have more experience build these kind of desktops, as I have usually build high end systems for my gaming buddies, so I am a little out of my element.

I'd maybe do a NAS storage? maybe like a synology or something a long those lines. that way you can save some loot on the PCs and just run SSDs for speed.

I'll put something together on PCPartPicker.

Do you know how much storage it needs?

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

I would most likely cap it at 500-750GB, I believe they are transitioning to cloud storage pretty soon, also does ncix still put together pc builds for around $50

I typically like the idea of a couple i3/8GB/240GB SSD based systems utilizing a good amount of local cloud storage to share. I know Western Digital sells those "MyCloud" things that would be relatively simple and easy to throw into the mix, and assuming they're only using it for documents it shouldn't be a problem. Usually the systems are cheap enough that you can go for making them silent systems too.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Is the size of the system an issue? For office you could go mini ITX with a Core i3 in a Lian Li case which will also support an optical drive and looks professional.

I´ll also post a part picker link in a couple minutes!

You tell me! Who is your daddy and what does he do?

The case is really up to you.

You may want to switch to just a hard drive if you need more storage

Oh, and don't forget an optical drive and OS (Windows I assume)

Realistically CA$1,000 for two systems with 27" monitor, o/s, keyboard, mouse, etc. is not possible. Windows licenses alone are over 1/4 of that budget.

So here is what I consider a bare bones office build. Just buy as many as needed.

A 27" monitor only makes sense, IMO if is is 1440 or the users need larger print. A 1080 27" monitor is a bit grainy.

Without OS you are still looking at $600 if you want a 27" monitor.
