Shure SE215 weirdness

So I got a question for you guys,

 

I got myself a replacement pair of the Shure SE215s and they seem to be updated in the design department compared to the previous pair.

The weird thing is that with the new pair they don't seem to be able to output the low frequency punch on my Asus N56JN while on my Nexus 5 they sound exactly the same as the previous pair. To me this is weird as 1. the previous pair did not exhibit this problem and 2. this would be more normal if the phone sounded less good as it should have a better preamp (Is this true?)

 

Does anybody know what could cause this? (it is not volume nor a user-controlled eq)
