Help chosing GPU

Hey,

Looking for some help upgrading my gpu. Currently 280X but thats irrelevant. Im looking at buying a 1440 144hz monitor (predator or swift not too sure yet). What I want to know is if a 980 will be able to run most AAA titles at max settings at 144fps or whether i will have to go with a 980ti or titan. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks guys

You will probably be fine with THIS generation of AAA titles (AA off), but you won't have a lot of head room for the future.

I would see if you can squeeze a 980Ti into your budget. It offers much more bang for the buck. There is also a massdrop for a 980Ti for $619 with a $30 MIR

Also don't get a titan.

Most people on line say 980ti is best for consistent frame rates and future title. Its also easily SLIable in the future

a 970 would have a lot of trouble doing 1440 at a high frame rate. I was running a 970 with 3440x1440 and in GTAV only had about 30fps

Yeah I was also looking at getting some head room for the future. Im also running 2 1080p Monitors, running non gaming things like facebook and streams and what not. Will that effect the performance from the Ti at all?

I *think* those types of apps don't really draw much gpu performance. I use a PS2 emulator, and even that is not enough to make my 980Ti work over 40% (silent fan mode under 40%)
