600$ Gaming PC

RoxlZ

Hi, I'm a highschool student and I'd like to make myself my first Gaming PC.

After searching a while around, I found this build guide on PCPARTSPICKER. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/RzH9TW/600-i5-6500r9-380-build

I'd like my computer to run latest games, around in 1080p maybe? It must be around 600$, 50$ up/down would work.

Please make sure to keep it around 600 only.

This is what I found; please let me know if I should go with this or if there are any adjustments that I can make to make this build better.

Thanks for your time.

Regards.

That's pretty good, although, you could drop down to like an i5-4660 or gen 4 i5, and with the price you save on a motherboard and processor, you can get an SSD as a boot drive or upgrade your GPU to something like a GTX 970 or an R9 390.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

iPad Air 2 (for school)

iPhone 6

Xbox One Forza 6 Limited Edition Blue

This is good^

but also choose a different power supply, other than CX.

Agreed, I would also find a better power supply.

Thank you guys for so QUICK and APT responses... but I'm kind of new in this field. I have some questions:-

1) Will downgrading the Intel Core affect the performance overall? I was thinking about Intel Skylake 6600k...

2) I want to make sure I'm on latest stuff with OVERCLOCK compatibility.. and I could upgrade my rig as the technology advances for at least 2-3 years?

3) Is the motherboard which has been suggested compatible with good internet speeds and USB 3.0? Is the BIOS GUI based and not that stupid blue and white thing?

I know these questions are bit imbecile but I'm not into much technical stuff as I'm a consumer more than a manufacturer :)

The overclocking comes at a price. With a 600$ Budget...its not really obtainable.. You need to get a "K" series chip from Intel, You need a Z97 (For last get) Or a (Z170) chipset for 600* Processors to have them be overclockable. On-top off all of that you need a good aftermarket cooler. (A good starting point would be the Hyper 212 Evo)...

Putting those 3 things together really does push up the price. Est would be $700ish...

Every motherboard nowadays comes with a decent on board internet. USB 3.0 is something to look into... Just google the motherboard specifications and it will tell you if it has it or not. I know my build does.

I'll put another build together for you know to give you a look at the price difference and so on.

Agreed, OP get this buil. Good overclocking ability, and generally good. Put your operating system on the SSD, and everything else on the Hard Drive, and you've got tons of expandability for more powerful GPU's. As well, once you get money, you can get a second stick of DDR4 ram for a total of 16, and you could even upgrade to an All-In-One Watercooler like the Nepton 240, H110i, or a Seidon 240 if you want even more overclocking headroom.
