What can I build with an Intel i7 3770s and a 4K monitor

Tanio

Hello Everyone,

I would like to build a gaming machine to be able to support a 4K monitor

I have watched already the video where linus build a PC to support a 4K monitor but it is a bit too expensive

Here my requirements

  • I do not want to spend too much. My budget is around 500£ (british pounds) which is about 720 dollars.
  • I have already a CPU I can reuse. It is a intel i7 3770s LGA 1155. Unfortunately it is an old CPU so I need to find motherboards compatible with this cpu

Therefore I have 700 dollars to build a pc around that processor.

My only requirements is that I would like to play games on a 40 inch 4k display 60hz without problems

How can I use my budget efficiently to build the most affordable machine that does the job

Thank you for your help

You can't do that with that budget, and even for people who can afford it, 4k is not viable right now, unless you're stritcly playing older games. 1440p is also a good resolution to play at and @Str_Mape's build is a good place to start.

At minimum, in order to maintain 60 fps at max settings, you need AT LEAST a high end 980ti or two 970s in sli, which is still not going to give you a full 60fps in every game.  Consequently, your entire budget would be eaten up by just the GPU(s), and therefore cannot be done.  You would need to turn down the settings, but that pretty much defeats the purpose, and should instead go with a 1440p monitor.

However, if you already own the monitor, and are trying to build a system to use with it, but not necessarily to its full capacity, it can be done....  For example, you could build a system with one 970 which will let you play some games in 1440p, and some in 1080p, and eventually add another 970 down the road (or comparable AMD card).  But based on your initial statement of 'able to play at 4k with a 60hz monitor without problems,' it doesn't sound like that is what you are looking for....
