So I have an older 2010 computer and it was near top of the line for it's year. It has a core i7 870 clocked at, because I don't overclock, 2.93 GHz, with 12 gb of 667 mhz ddr3 ram, with a 1tb hard drive. I used to use the 1 tb as my main hard drive, but I was wondering what was going on. I know that I can run windows 10 with no problems whatsoever, but after about 6 months, I realized, because of my friend that windows 10 was extremely slow due to every last bit of my hard drive being used. If I wanted to continue to have my computer, without windows 10 basically commiting suicide, I had to retrieve alot of my files off the computer and place them in a temporary storage. I have windows 7 home edition running on an ide 120 gb hard drive, with a 4 gb system reserve and 107 gb that I can use for storage. I was wondering what could have caused my 1tb wd black hard drive to have the symtoms it does have, and does windows 10 really cause all of your programs to slowly stop working?

(And yes, I have antivirus and ccleaner. I run them at least once a week, and I run the full system scan every two weeks)

Also, did you install your SATA controller drivers? And are did plug your HDD on SATA 2 or 3?

My brother has a very similar computer, but has an SSD, and WD Black 1TB for extra storage (his old HDD), and my Computer (same setup, but Core i7 930). Both of us on Win 10, no issues.

I didn't try a reinstallation of windows. And I don't need the SATA contoller drivers. The motherboard that I have can run for hours without issue. I have the latest bios with biostar, my motherboard brand, but that's it. I just know that after windows 10, my wd black was committing suicide, using every bit of itself. No program was shown to be using my hard drive whatsoever. What do you thing may be the problem?

(I don't know about the SATA controller drivers. They may have come pre-installed, but It's not them because I ran my computer with a wd black for about a year and a half without any problems. Windows 10 worked well until the November update updated my computer. I ran my norton antivirus copy and ccleaner to no avail. I am running the same computer now, with windows 7 installed, and the machine is working flawlessly.)
