Hi guys!

I'm using a Logitech G3 for the last 9-10 years and absolutely love it. It still works perfectly but I need a 2nd mouse for another pc.

So what do I love about the G3? Everything, even the fact that it has 1 extra button on each side (as opposed to 2 buttons on 1 side).

Which mouse should I get? I need something like the G3. Money is not a problem since I don't change mice that frequently.

I found that Logitech has a G303 which kinda looks the same. What do you think about it? I saw the G502 too but I don't know if it will suit me since it seems way bigger.

Any thoughts?

Some G303s can have sensor rattle if they are not from the newest batch. If you can try it before buying shake it to see if it has it. The G302 doesn't rattle as much and is a safer choice, but it lacks the extra feet the G303 has and is more unstable. If you are going for a G302/303, I'd strongly suggest trying the first as they have a weird diamond shape that isn't for everybody.

The EVGA TORQ X5 is a pretty good, small ambidextrous mice. It has side buttons on both sides, but comes only with a white, glossy finish.

The G100s has the same shape as the G3, but it lacks side buttons and has some QC issues involving the buttons double clicking. It's cheap, but it's a gamble because it can develop the issue.

Personally, I'd pick the X5. It has an excellent optical sensor (S3988) and isn't known to have any particular design or QC flaws. EVGA's software is not as good as Logitech's though.

The G502 is way heavier than those mice, so if you are looking for a light mouse, it's not the right choice. Don't listen to people who blindly recommend it in every topic.

Thanks for the in depth  analysis @Pandalf

I'll try to test it first but I don't think I will find one for testing easily.

The EVGA seems very interesting! I'd like to test it too somewhere since it has a glossy finish.

I see these  mice have an optical sensor whereas the G3 has a laser sensor. Will I have any disadvantage with the optical sensor?

The only advantage of laser sensors is that they can track on surfaces like glass. Optical mice offer superior tracking, higher malfunction speed and all mice I mentioned don't have acceleration. I see no reason why companies offer laser gaming mice - they have more disadvantages.  Get a decent cloth pad (Steelseries QCK, Roccat Taito, Razer Goliathus, etc.) and you are good to go.

If you love the classic MX300/G1/G3 pilot mouse shape, you're only going to be satisfied with G100s or Ninox Aurora.
