Hey

I got myself a new gaming pc, and I just wanted to check the Tempertures on the internal hardware at idle, under load and while performing demanding tasks. My cpu is watercooled, and only reaches around 40 degrees celcius under gaming and while performing other demanding tasks, but my GPU, which is an MSI GTX 970 OC with one fan onboard, it almost reaches 70 degrees celsius while gaming, and that kinda bothers me. I don´t know what the optimal Temperture for a video card is, but 70 degrees celsius seems kinda extreme, but I´m kinda a noob on that point, so if someone could tell me if this is normal or if it´s abnormal, that would be much appreciated.

I used to own G1 970 and under some load (not extreme or anything) it used to go up to 60-65 Celsius. I would say on heavy load 70 degrees is normal. As long as the noise doesn't bother you (if there is any), I wouldn't worry with 70 degrees.

Edit:

I never play demanding games, so I can't be for sure what are temps on them games.

70 degrees under load for a blower style cooler seems okay.  What kind of airflow do you have in your system?

one 80 mm intake fan at the top and a 120 mm out fan at the bottom below the gpu, and the gpu´s fan is obviously pointed downwards, where there is nothing at all, except exit holes in my case and screw holes for another fan

that´s good to know, and the card does say a little bit, but my keyboard and the game covers it, lol

Interesting fan config... very interesting indeed...

Try the 120mm as a front intake and the 80mm as an exhaust in the rear.

Would you not want larger fan to spit out the air rather than intake? The reason I'm asking because my case came with 4 fans. 2 in front of the case are intake, smaller ones. One massive on top of the case which is exhaust and one small one in the back is also exhaust.

Do you just suggesting him to try different options because he only has 2 fans or there is general rules for fans in the cases? Sorry for of the topic question :P

Removing all the fans from the case, he still has one exhaust, maybe two.

The GPU exhausts and if the power supply is a top mount, it exhausts as well.

Bringing in fresh air allows the GPU to use that air to cool itself.  The 80mm rear exhaust is to remove excess heat from the motherboard/CPU RAM.  If you can get more air coming in, than exhausting, you do not pull in dust into the case from every crack.  Dust buildup causes heat.  Just make sure to filter the intake fans.

@bigneo

For your system, you most likely have three 120mm and a 140mm(top)?

The setup you have is fine, but you are pulling in air from every opening/crack in the case.  That air brings in dust.  If you were to remove the rear 120mm exhaust (going with the single 140mm top for exhausting), you would find a lot less dust buildup in the case and temps would not suffer much... if at all.

I'll try to push my intake fans a bit, so exhaust is slower than intake. I have to clean my case of dust every few weeks. It really annoys me and I know it's because of my case. It's really open and full of cracks for dust to come in. On the other hand, it's really cool inside, compared to my friends with similar inside hardware.

I have 4 intakes - two 140mm and two 120mm, and three exhausts - a 140mm and two 120mm.

I used to have two 140mm in the top as exhausts and at full fan power everything was fine.  When the system was in low RPM mode though, I had more air exhausting than the air being brought it.

When I switched a 140mm from the top to the bottom, the dust buildup changed drastically.  The inside is really clean, I only have to clean the filters every few months.  Positive air pressure is the better option.
