Hi guy's,

at the moment i'm trying to overclock an MSI Afterburner 7790 2GB OC.
The thing is neither my MSI afterburner (software) nor my AMD overdrive will allow me to push it over 1200 mHz core clock.
Its running perfectly stable at that clockspeed, and temp is 49° on the GPU. But i want to push it even further.
How will i be able to do so?

A 7790 isn't made for that....

7790s aren't made for that kind of overclocking so obviously it wont let you push it.

??? what do you mean by "isn't made for that"?

At some forum's i c core clocks of 1300 mHz on a 7790.

Well some are luck. Your's must be locked multiplier and voltage. What card is it?

it's an MSI R7790-GD5/OC

edit: It's not that the card gets unstable past 1200 mHz, the software just doesn't allow me to input more then 1200 mHz.

        i know for sure it can go higher.

You can search it up, but with MSI afterburner, you can go to the settings (from the folder) and you need to change some values in order to "unlock" the extra overclocking room.

@ArumanBE

Download the latest beta drivers for MSI afterburner and click on settings, in the general tab at the bottom you should see "extend official overclocking limits". Check that box then restart MSI afterburner and if that doesn't help uncheck that box and change the official overclocking mode drop down to with poerplay support and restart and try again.

  • 2 weeks later...

my 7790 is 52° under load atm. My CPU is watercooled and i have a 120mm airflowfan directly on to the gfx-card so my case temp is around 23°. that way my gfx-card stay's nic and cool.
I was able to OC it to 1250mHz core and 1650mHz memory stable.
