Oveclocking a pentium g3258 on h81m chipset

Go to solution Solved by Amazingasian,

Here's a list of motherbaords that you can OC a G3258 on.  http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2389948  If you're gaming with it, I would suggest getting an AMD Athlon X4 860k because most games made after 2012 won't run on 2 cores.

Hello, i'm going to be building a budget pc later this year (still researching components), and am wondering if it is possible to overclock a pentium g3258 on an h81m motherboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

Not possible. You need a Z97 board to overclock it.

What a ridiculous and untrue statement. Yes some games these days require a quad core but it's literally like, GTA 5, Far Cry 4, and The Witcher 3. All games that came out (GTA came out in April for the PC) in the last year.
