windows 7 Installing Windows - "A required CD/DVD Driver is missing"

So only a couple days ago my I built a PC for my friend, parts went together fine with no compatibility issues, got it booted up and it posted, and went to install windows 7 from a USB. Got onto the install screen, and a screen saying "select the drivers to be installed" comes up, and a message saying that a required CD/DVD driver is missing and then the installation won't continue until I locate said driver. First thing we did was try a USB 2.0 port by plugging a USB 2.0 card reader into the computer into the front USB port on the motherboard. That detected the CD fine but it still had the same issue. Also tried Windows 7 64-bit disk and same problem. We have tried using Rufus to create the installation media on the usb, and have tried using an external optical drive. Please help cause we don't want a wasted copy of Windows 7 Home Premium for $70, and we want to get his computer up and running.

Specs of the said PC:

Intel Core i5-4460

Gigabyte Z170N-Wifi

Corsair LP DDR4 2x4GB

EVGA Geforce GTX 970 4GB superclocked ACX

Seagate SSHD 2tb

And of course operating system attempting to be installed - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Not sure what to say. only time I ever installed windows 7 was years ago with a cracked version of 7 ultimate, and it never showed any load driver screen. Does it ask you to connect to the internet when you install it, before you get to that point? Only thing I can think is if you're connected to the internet disconnect, but I doubt that's the issue.

 

Have you tried putting any disc that came with your motherboard in the pc? make sure you plug in to a usb 2.0 slot. In my experience 3.0 slots don't work at all until you install drivers.

Doesn't say anything about connecting to the internet, and problem is we only have 1 USB 2.0 port for the computer so we can only plug in either the external optical drive or the USB drive at a time. Could try and find a spare internal optical drive though.

Are you installing it with a RAID controller, or are you using AHCI? Most times you'll have to use the motherboard's supplied CD for RAID drivers.
