You can place it in any position you want, including upside down. Depending on your drive, you may have a small hole on the drive(depending on the age) which is used for air to pass through. If your drive happens to have that, please ensure that doesn't become covered in any way.

Thanks it is only one year old so it should be safe. i was just concerned because I know the older PCs would grind if the disk was not perfectly level.
