GPU Fan Questions

I do not have anything like that in any of my boxes.

The connectors say VGA on it.

Long story short, when i try to plug in my GPU fan header (or at least that is what i think it is) my whole computer won't start after that. My question is 1: Do i need to plug it in or will the molex plugins power it? 2: If i must plug it in, where do i plug it into? My Motherboard is a asus z97-a, GPU is a EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0, and PSU is a EVGA nexb1 750w 80+ bronze semi modular.

Can anyone help?

you plug a gpu fan INTO THE GPU

GPU fans plug into a fan header on the GPU's PCB. A GPU is powered by a dedicated cable. I dont think a molex would provide enough power. pics would help.

GPU fan header...

I have the exact same (plusthe SC) GPU... Never heard of it...

Either you have some special rare GPU that has a fan header for its fans or you are doing something horribly horribly wrong!

The fan cable plugs in the pcb of the gpu, what molex cable are you talking about? Post a pic

The "fan header" thing i am talking about is a 4 hole cable that has 1 side with a square thing on one side and a line going down the 3rd (or 2nd) hole. i am generally new to this so sorry if i don't understand what you fully mean (such as PCB). Also, the cables with the molex seemed to have come with the GPU (its called a PERIF, i have 2 of them, one with 3 molex connectors and another with 2 and the fan header thing)

PERIF

were gonna need some pictures

also, do you mean cpu?

gpu is graphics card

cpu is processor

when i opened it it said the fans won't start till X amount of load or something, and how it has to be changed manually.

Nope, I'm talking about the GPU fans.

A picture is worth a thousand words. especially when troubleshooting computer issues.

The GPU is powered by these which come from the PSU 7GRoNic.jpg.

Mine says PERIF and are almost identical to these but with 2 6's and no optional 8.

GPU is the processor found on the graphics card PCB, essentially the "CPU" of that component. CPU is the processor found on the motherboard.

Im talking about how it is all assembled on its own, i plug it to PCIe, i get come weird connectors with the GPU that go from 6 holes to molex adapter, i assume thats what i do.

Those are just adapters if required. If you have the cables already with the power supply, use those. Not the molex connectors.

oh god

no

what you do

is not use the molex for anything

plug the 6 and/or 8 pin directly into it from your psu

I think I've figured it out. He's talking about the adapter that comes with the graphics card that goes from two Molex to PCIe 6/8 pin.

other way around, from PCIe 6/8pin to molex, other than that, you are right.

Well, it comes from the power supply to the graphics card. That's the order in my mind. Guess I'm thinking about the way the current is going to travel.

Here Is The Picture, sorry for the delay. Remember that it goes from GPU, two 6 PCIe to 2 molex, per 6, so a total of 4 molex. So am i doing this right? PS the fan header thing with the 4 holes is what i am holding with my thumb.

ANY ADVISE HELPS.

My questions were 1: Do i need to plug it in or will the molex plugins power it? 2: If i must plug it in, where do i plug it into?
