I have a Crucial MX100 512GB ssd I used to have windows 10 on. I formatted it and tried to install windows 7 on it but was unsuccessful so it has sat idle for a few months.

Now I'm trying to put it in my laptop and install windows 10 but It wont format.

I have tried for format it within the window 10 install, by connecting it externally and formatting from windows and tried to delete/run cmd commands to clear/clean it. It gave me error code 0x80070057 when trying to format it within windows 10 install and it said the ssd isn't writeable when i tried to in CMD in the windows 10 install.

Just wondering where to go from here, anyone expereince this before

If the drive refuses to format, it's possible it's damaged or corrupt. How old is the drive?

The drive is recognized when connected to another pc? Try a low level format.

its less than 6 few months old

Huh. Then I'm gonna echo @Frankk and say it's a dud; a SSD shouldn't be this difficult to format and even if you somehow get it working like @Barbona recommends I'd still be wary of it in the long run. Get that puppy back to Crucial and demand a replacement.
