i had a gtx 460 on this old pc , and on my main pc i changed the gpu from gtx 745 to r9 390 , it works great.

on the other hand , on the old pc the gtx 460 started having problems - the fans stopped spinning so it got pretty hot even on idle..

i changed the gtx 460 to the gtx 745 after i uninstalled all drivers , pc turned up on 800x600 , i installed geforce experience and the recommended drivers - bam! black screen.

not even a glimpse into windows until i uninstall the drivers again on safe mod.

when i checked the device manager it only shows microsoft graphics driver , the gtx 745 fans are spinning though , its connected properly and the screen is connected to it so..

i have no idea what to do guys.

thanks in advance for any help!

i dont think so , i just checked dxdiag , and it shows microsoft because theres no drivers installed , they all make the screen go black , but it shows that the chip is made by nvidia and the fact it has 2gb vram.

Boot into safe mode and clean drivers using DDU, then reinstall Geforce Experience.

Tried it,  black screen occures in the middle of the instalation, i know there should be a black screen but it also has to get back to windows after 2 seconds,  which doesnt happen even after 5 minutes.

Is it possible to try the card on another PC?

The card worked on my dell xps 8700

Did you try just now, or did it work before?

Are you on the same motherboard?

Are you still using the same HDD/Windows Install as the XPS?

Did you try recently on the XPS, or did it work previously? In the time, if you tested it previously, from then to now, the card may have deteriorated in some way.

I meant is the Windows install migrated from the XPS or is it fresh? If it's fresh you may need to reinstall, but if it's migrated then I have no clue.

At the moment try and install motherboard drivers in case there's something wrong with the PCIe controller (doubtful but try).
