I posted the other day about upgrading my current system, but was told it would be more efficient to just build new. So I extended my budget a bit and have put together a computer on pc parts picker.

Is this a well balanced PC? I have such a large power supply as I would eventually plan on purchasing another 980Ti to run in SLI, not sure if it's still over kill though.

Just a quick recap of my situation incase it changes any suggestions/advice.

I live in Australia, plan to purchase the parts for this PC from www.pccasegear.com, and have a budget of around $3000 now. I will make a monitor purchase soon after buying the PC, looking for it to be in the ultra wide screen range. This is my first ever PC build, and will plan to overclock the CPU(not sure how much yet, thinking 4.5Ghz).

The build is below:

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/TheWhyGen/saved/HXD9TW

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($529.00 @ PCCaseGear)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($165.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Motherboard: MSI Z170A SLI PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($249.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($199.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($149.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($1099.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($139.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($279.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Mouse: Logitech G602 Wireless Optical Mouse

Total: $2808.00

Any thoughts/advice is appreciated, thanks.

I personally would have gone for the Asus Sabertooth Z170 for an LGA1151 cpu. But that is purely out of preference, and there isn't much reasoning for it. But since your case has a window (I think), you might want that one as it looks a lot nicer because of its shield. FYI, the recommended wattage for 2x980ti is 850watts. Good Luck!

@TheWhyGen Ur build is solid, what u could do is have a PSU from Seasonic their allways a solid choice and maybe change the CPU cooler what i've heard is they tend to be much noisier then their air cooled counterparts.

But if u really want your cpu liquid cooled then go for it ;)

I was considering going for a coloured schemed motherboard with a shield, but I actually don't mind the plain black, I'm hoping it makes the red of the graphics cards pop, also considering getting some custom red cables at some point to match.

I have heard EVGA is one of the highest quality PSU available? I'll definitely have to look into Seasonic more now, thanks. I did consider air cooling, but I figured if I ever want to really push the overclock of the CPU having it water cooled would be ideal, noise isn't the biggest issue for me as my current setup sounds like a lawn mower so anything is an upgrade in that department lol

If u want to take a look for good and bad PSU take a look here:

And about the OC if u really would push it then liquid cooling would be your obvious choice, u also have great aftermarket air coolers which can keep your cpu very cool even if u OC'ed it.

But nice lawnmower u got there then ;p

Not a bad build. I have a couple things that i would suggest.

instead of 2 sticks of ram, get 4 sticks (technically, should run faster)

instead of that m.2 SSD, i would get one that has faster read/write.  That one looks like its about 500mbps read/write.  They make ones that are much faster

everything else looks good!

EDIT:
Here's one i did right quick
