MSI Afterburner is going to burn my card ... Fix?

Aleksbgbg

MSI afterburner is set as an automatic start-up application in task manager.

However, sometimes it fails to start up and I don't spot this until I need the FPS counter.

I then notice 94 celcius on the GPU, which explains why the fans have a fit once in a while (guess they automatically go to 100% at 95 degrees)

So I turn it on and it cools the GPU down but the problem is that it already happened.

Other times, for the first time actually today, it starts up incorrectly. Same problem. (also, half the FPS in firewatch when the afterburner was off - no idea what this has to do with it)

This is going to wear out my card fast, if I don't find how to fix it.

How do I make it start up properly, or actually how do I make the fans turn on even if the program is off?

Just do a manual start up everytime you start your computer, it really isn't that hard.

Also, set your fan speeds to be a high-ish number like 60% and not automatic on your profile.

Things can get buggy if you set it up to auto start when the computer boots up.

you need to edit the start process and add a delay to the start, I use 15 secs for some of my stuff

Oh, right...

It is actually on custom fan curve though, it starts at 50 degrees and is at 100% by 65 degrees

Check your graphics card for dust #1 killer.

If not that I would worry about the fans, try using another program and see if that helps, use speedfan.

Temperatures are not problem, this build is brand new from like 1 month ago.

0% dust, already cleaned twice.

Just the fans f***ing about, but I will just do manual start up like you said

This is not relevant. Like at all. I know how to set a custom fan curve.

I have got to head to class, good luck with that!

It is probably for the best you don't have an overclocking software to start up automatically before the os is fully loaded
